Stocking Stuffer Ideas!

There are so many great feet coming out from Janome this year! They make great gift giving ideas for yourself as well as for someone on your Christmas gift giving list!

Recently we brought in the Janome Clear View Quilting Foot and Guide Set

You can attach and remove the guides as needed to suit what ever task you have. 1/4" seam, ditch quilting or a clear foot. Marking indicate 1/8" or 1/4" from centre needle drop position with handy cornering markings for 1/8" and 1/4" seams. Oval shaped needle hole allows adjustment for scant 1/4" seams (computer machines only though) This foot fits most top loading bobbin Janome sewing machines.

Another great new foot is the
Make your own original ribbons by adding decorative stitching or lettering. Whether used to embellish quilts and apparel, scrapbooking decorations, or for decorating that special gift, you can add originality to all of your projects. The Ribbon Sewing Guide allows you to create original ribbons by adding decorative stitches and lettering to ribbon up to 25mm (1") wide

There are though a few restrictions with this guide:
All machines that have an attachment hole on or near the needle plate can use this guide. Use the shorter setscrew and thinner pad for MC11000, MC6600P, MC6500P, 6260QC, 6125QC, 6019QC. Use the longer setscrew and thicker pad for MC9700, MC9500, MC4900QC, MC4800, DC3050, Jem Platinum 720/760, Jem Gold, Sewist Series (521/525S, 625E). Does not fit machines without an attachment hole, such as the Memory Craft 10001 or 10000.
So this is not for all the Janome machines, but it is a great crafty accessory!

Having problems lining up or evenly spacing your border designs? Now the Border Guide Foot helps you to easily match up your border designs with the red lines of the foot. No need to mark every row beforehand!

The secret to the border guide foot lies in the red guide marks. The two sets of vertical red lines are calibrated to allow perfect spacing of rows. The horizontal red line matches the needle drop so you can line up the start of each row. The small red mark denotes the center of the design for lining up with the marking for the first row.

Janome's Convertible Even Feed Foot Set (High Shank | Low Shank) with convenient features especially for quilters. The set includes everything you need for gorgeous quilting: an Even Feed Foot with Closed Toe, Convertible Open Toe Foot for extra visibility, Ditch Quilting Guide, and Adjustable Quilting Guide. The new construction of these feet make it easier than ever to set up for all kinds of quilting tasks!

All of the Janome accessory feet are available on my website. So please take the time to browse and find the one that best suits your sewing needs as well as your machine.

Stay tuned for more exciting new products to come in the next few days!

New Goodies!

We just received some beautiful new Hoffman fabrics this week and they are absolutely yummy! The are from the new flavour of Bali Pops we got in a few weeks back. Linda and I are anxious to get sewing with them. I just love working with the Bali Pops. The fabric combinations are to die for and perfect for any strip piecing project.

I recently brought in the patterns for making Bali Bowls, Bali Boxes and Bali Bags. Package it together with a Bali Pop and you have a great Christmas gifts! And yes I did say Christmas. Apparently that is no longer politically correct though! Have you noticed this year how everyone is using the work "Holiday" in place of "Christmas"? I even had the gentleman that was painting my windows today say he was in a store the other day and asked where they kept the Christmas trees and he was told the "Holiday" trees were over there. He then told the employee he did not want a holiday tree he wanted a Christmas tree and if they didn't carry Christmas trees he would find a store that did. I just thought that was so funny! Life is just too serious some days

So enough of that, other new items in the store...I have recently become the Kelowna distributor for Kwik Sew Patterns, which has been a huge hit! Their patterns are so easy to work with and they have all the sizes in one package. So you can just use the Kwik Sew tracing paper and trace out the size of your choice, keeping you master pattern untouched and useable for other sizes. How great is that!

What's New at Findlay's in Orchard Plaza!

So here I go. I have never written on or been part of a blog/news before. But what I have seen is the only rule's to have fun and share something that hopefully someone will find interesting. This will also be a great avenue to share new products, up and coming classes as well as instore specials!

Sewers and quilters alike need to feed their fibre art addictions. But the great thing about having this type of addiction is that it isn't fattening, which speaks volumes! It won't cause a hangover (although it does tend to lead to sleepless nights) You are at least home with your family...even though you are held up in your sewing room while your family is eating TV dinners. Your not out cheating on your husband (hiding fabric under your shirt when you walk in the front door does not constitute cheating)and no if you can't find it, you do not count it as part of your stash! And men you can not forget that if "mama ain't happy....ain't nobody happy!" So encourage her to be her amazing creative self!In the end you will be rewarded
Whoow I am glad I got that off my chest!

So since this is my first entry on my brand new website I would like to start by thanking the one that created this amazing site, my oldest step-son Mike! Cutos to you!

I had my previous relic of a website for such a long time. And I recognize it was in desperate need of a face-lift! Last March 2009 just after we were celebrating our grandson Sean’s 1st birthday and Mike's 25th birthday, Mike tells me that he has been going on to my website and he couldn’t believe I had such an old fashion looking site. Those weren't his exact words....but we'll go with that for now. Then he went on to tell me all that was wrong with my website
At first I have to admit I was a little hurt. I mean at least I had a website. I was also a little embarrassed! It made me feel just a little old and out of the internet loop….But then I thought heck!.. I sell sewing machines and vacuums. I don't know anything about websites. So I asked is there anything he could do to help me with it?

Mike was taking a computer programming course at BCIT and before we new what hit us, a whole new website was emerging! What started as a facelift became an entirely new website! It has been a long haul and I am sure he has regretted bringing up my archaic site from time to time. But I hope in the end he is more proud than regretful.

His fiancée Maria was a huge help and inspiration as well. She spent countless hours cruising sewing and quilting sites to see what was the most pleasing to the eye, as well as being easy to manuver around for all us women who aren't so computer savy. She spent endless hours inputing a lot of the information that is found on this site. They really work as a great team! and since I seem to be in the mood to give thanks, I should also also thank my grandson Sean for his patience while mommy and daddy were doing all this work for his grammi!

In the end I think we are all very proud of our new website, and we hope you will enjoy it too! I am always looking for new products and techniques to share and my hope is that this will be a helpful tool for us all to expand on our creativity!
